Build the Specification From the Business Use
A commercial floor coating should be evaluated for how the premises operate. Before selecting a decorative finish or comparing quotes, document the traffic, equipment, cleaning and exposure in each area. A showroom, stockroom and working area may need different discussions.
DJ Epoxy Solutions handles project assessments through the commercial epoxy flooring service. This guide supports the selection discussion rather than replacing a site evaluation.
Make an Operating Conditions Checklist
- People, carts, vehicles and other traffic by area.
- Equipment weight, wheel type and how loads are distributed.
- Substances, oils and cleaning products that contact the floor.
- Exposure duration, water use and cleaning temperature.
- Operating hours, access and acceptable interruption.
Provide the actual product names and operating conditions where possible. A generic statement that a floor handles chemicals or heavy equipment is not a project specification.

Separate Coating Properties From Slab Capacity
A laboratory value for a resin does not establish the load-bearing capacity of the existing concrete slab. The floor’s actual capacity depends on the slab, equipment weight, load distribution and installation conditions.
If industrial use is involved, discuss the industrial epoxy flooring service and identify any structural questions that require the appropriate assessment. Do not use a resin compressive-strength figure as permission to install or operate equipment.
Evaluate Chemical and Cleaning Exposure Individually
Industrial-grade resins can have resistance to a range of substances, but performance varies with the chemical or oil and the duration of exposure. Ask for evaluation of the specific application and supporting information for the proposed system.
Avoid treating “chemical resistant” as “unaffected by every chemical.” Include the actual cleaning routine and spills when discussing suitability.
Plan Preparation, Access and Return to Operation
Explain the existing material, visible damage, joints and any water concerns. Ask which preparation and concrete corrections belong in the flooring installation. Record access needs, equipment movement and return-to-operation instructions.
DJ’s general guide after completed installation is approximately 8 hours before walking and 72 hours before vehicles or heavy use, subject to the selected system, conditions and Javier’s project instructions. These references are not a promise of full cure or a fixed installation schedule.
The business reopening schedule still needs a project-specific decision, especially where equipment, chemicals or cleaning are involved.
Questions About Commercial Flooring Conditions
Does an industrial-grade label confirm forklift suitability?
No. Equipment, loads, slab capacity and the complete proposed system must be evaluated for the actual conditions.
Can every commercial area use the same coating?
Do not assume that. Describe each area’s exposure and use before selecting the system.
Can we stay open during installation?
Ask about the actual access and schedule. Phased work or installation outside operating hours is not automatically promised.
Discuss Your Actual Floor
Request an on-site flooring estimate or call (321) 398-1343. Explain the existing surface, approximate area and intended use.
