What Goes Into the Floor
Preparation. We diamond grind the entire slab down to sound concrete and open up the surface so the coating has something to bond into. Cracks and pits get repaired, and the floor is vacuumed clean before anything is poured. This is the step that decides whether a garage floor is still holding in year five.
Base coat and flake. The epoxy base goes down and the flake is broadcast into it while it’s still wet. Once it sets, the surface is scraped back and vacuumed so it’s smooth underfoot rather than sharp.
Topcoat. A polyaspartic topcoat seals everything in. That’s the layer carrying the abrasion resistance, the chemical resistance and the UV stability — the reason the floor doesn’t yellow or chalk with Florida sun coming through an open garage door.
